The Abbott PLEX-ID system uses multi-locus base composition analysis for microbial identification without the need for prior knowledge of what is present in the sample. Designed for walk-up use by laboratory personnel, the PLEX-ID system provides a single workflow that can be applied to analyze bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa direct from sample. Mixtures can also be analyzed and results generated in hours versus days. The PLEX-ID also has the ability to provide one workflow and platform for all types of DNA testing and the capability to interpret mtDNA mixtures.
