With no sequencing required, the Ibis T5000 Biosensor System delivers detailed characterization of your samples in ~5 hours.
Additional Information
Why is a universal biosensor needed?
Ibis T5000™ Biosensor
The Ibis T5000 Biosensor System is for surveillance, epidemiology, forensic, and biological research, and is not for use in diagnostic procedures. It provides researchers a solution for both broad-range and strain-specific identification of infectious organisms for multiple applications.
The Ibis T5000 Biosensor System was designed as a research tool to enable rapid identification and characterization of bacterial, viral, fungal, and other infectious organisms as well as analysis of human DNA.
Highlights of the Ibis T5000 Biosensor System
- Rapid identification (~ 5 hours)
- Fundamentally different approach than traditional methods requiring prior knowledge of suspected organisms´ exact DNA sequence to enable detection and identification
- No need for a priori knowledge of the infectious organisms present in the sample
Key components of the Ibis T5000 Biosensor System include
- Bruker Daltonics microTOF electrospray ionization time-of-flight (ESI-TOF) mass spectrometer
- Custom designed and fabricated magnetic bead desalting station from Omnica
- Thermo Electron CataLyst Express robotic arm and plate holders that can accommodate up to fifteen each of 96-well plates, magnetic bead plates, and analysis plates
- KBiosystems WASP automated heat sealer for 96-well plates
- Two dual Intel Xeon processor computers and an EonStor/SCSI to SATA RAID Sub System that house the controlling analytical system and database
